GoCloud Systems has worked with RDNZ for a number of years, providing IT support and troubleshooting. When Communications Manager Amy Watson came on board the issues with its existing website were evident. “It no longer reflected how we need to present ourselves to the world,” explains Amy.
“The search functionality didn’t deliver, the site didn’t resize for mobile or tablet users, we had a very clunky connection that took users off the site for donations and the way content was presented made us look out of touch and unprofessional.” It was time for a change.
GoCloud worked with Amy to build a business case for the board. It recommended shifting onto a new SilverStripe platform to get the backend functionality they need now and for future expansion. GoCloud’s team helped create a new site architecture and provided a fresh, modern design - applying RDNZ branding. Having achieved board sign off, GoCloud’s intense knowledge of both the organisation and SilverStripe came into play. “The site came together far faster than I ever dreamed it could,” says Amy.
“Even adding in credit card payments was made exceptionally easy. GoCloud’s team owned the project with us and really delivered every step of the way.”
Rare Disorders NZ’s website now delivers the professional window it needs to attract donations and provide influence at all levels. Users can find information easily using its integrated search function - including locating a support group. Donors click a button on the website and go straight to totally secure payment options. The site responds exactly how a modern website should with users being far more engaged with the content than ever before - galvanising support and making the organisation more effective. Amy manages content updates herself and knows whatever future functionality she needs SilverStripe and GoCloud can handle it.
"GoCloud are constantly thinking about us and how we can use technology to maximise the work we do. GoCloud has helped us to move to a new era, making a huge difference to our reputation and reach.” says Lisa Foster, Chief Executive, Rare Disorders NZ.
